Heroics of the Week:
Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn)
They say in the classics, that tackles can win you matches, and again, this was proven the case, when Sam Mitchell lunged at Richmond's Shane Tuck to deny the Tigers their 1st win of the 2010 AFL season. With only a minute left on the clock, Richmond's Shane Tuck was running to the Tigers forward 50 and a great diving lunging tackle by the Hawks skipper Sam Mitchell won Hawthorn a holding the ball free kick, which could have denied the Tigers victory. After missing a couple of weeks through injury, it was a great effort from Sam Mitchell. Mitchell collected 29 disposals and laid 8 tackles to help steer the Hawks to a much-needed win over a brave Richmond.
