Heroics of the Week:
Brent Harvey (North Melbourne)
When ask who personifies the Shinboner Spirit and the North Melbourne Football Club the most, one player sticks out in my mind the most and that is Brent "Boomer" Harvey. Harvey played his 300th game for the North Melbourne Football Club on Sunday against the West Coast Eagles and you knew that they were always going to win for their little champion.
At 32 years of age this year, he still manages to compete at the highest level with great consistency and on Sunday, he gathered 26 disposals to help the Kangaroos steer the Eagles to their 1st wooden spoon, since their entry into the AFL in 1987.
Harvey bleeds blue and white in his veins and will be remembered as one of the all-time great Kangaroos player in my opinion. Early in the 2010 season, Harvey had an all-time low disposal count of 5 disposals against St.Kilda, when the Kangaroos got well beaten by 104 points and it left people wondering, whether or not Harvey had the legs to carry on through the season, but, as the saying goes, you should never count out a champion, and in typical Harvey fashion, he has bounced back since and has had a terrific and consistent season for North Melbourne.
Brent Harvey is the heart and soul of the North Melbourne Football Club, he has been one of my favourite all-time non-Swans players to watch for a decade now and I have no doubt, that he has at least 2 years left in those little legs of his and hopefully carry the Kangaroos to another premiership.
