Heroics of the Week:
Nick Riewoldt (St.Kilda)
When St.Kilda's champion star in Nick Riewoldt did his hamstring in the Round 3 game against Collingwood, a lot of questions popped up about the Saints. Where will their goals come from in the absence of their champion player? Will they win enough games without their star forward? Even though at times, they struggled to kick high enough scores, their defence never waned and that was the pivotal reason why the Saints were still successful without Nick Riewoldt.
Before his injury, Riewoldt had kicked 11 goals in 2 games and was set for a big season. In his absence, St.Kilda had won 8 games and lost 3 and proved a lot of doubters wrong. Since Riewoldt's return, the Saints are now looking ominous for the Premiership flag, Riewoldt has kicked 16 goals in 6 games. After a slow start upon his return, his last 2 games proved that the Saints are still a force to be reckoned with. He kicked 7.5 from 19 disposals and 10 marks to help demolish a disappointing North Melbourne.
If the Saints can get Justin Koschitzke's act together and with Koschitzke's help up forward, the Saints can have another tilt at the Premiership before it's too late. Riewoldt needs help up forward, the Saints do have a tendancy to go to him too much, but, if they can get the right mixture up forward, that elusive Premiership can be heading to Moorabbin once again.
