Heroics of the Week:
Barry Hall - (Western Bulldogs)
When Barry Hall left the Sydney Swans Football Club last year in disgrace, people were wondering whether or not, other clubs would pick him up or that he can redeem himself after Roos had enough of his onfield implosions.
Up until Round 18, 2010, Hall has gone a lone way to redeeming himself. So far this season, he had kicked 65 goals and is in the running for his 1st Coleman Medal and on Sunday against North Melbourne, Hall helped the Bulldogs demolish North Melbourne and had kicked 7.2 from 18 disposals and 8 marks.
If Barry Hall hadn't had those implosions and brain-snaps, I felt that he could have been one of the all-time greats at the Sydney Swans, even though, he still is, but he could have been more. When he retired from the Swans, he had kicked 31 goals from 11 games in 2009. If he hadn't gone off the rails, the Swans may have played finals and Hall could have had yet another 60 to 70 goal tally to his name.
Hopefully, by the time his career ends, Hall would have redeemed himself as a person and player and have won another premiership with the Western Bulldogs.
To be honest, I still love Barry Hall, always have and always will, as he is one of my all-time favourite players and I am rapt for him, that he is finally playing well and is happy again as a person. I have been following the Western Bulldogs quite heavily this year and have adopted them as my 2nd team because of Hally and I hope they go all the way for him, if the Swans don't win the premiership of course, it would bring a big smile to my face, as it would hopefully shut some critics up.
