Heroics of the Week:

Michael Barlow (Fremantle Dockers)

and

Jack Ziebell (North Melbourne)

On the weekend, we saw two horiffic injuries suffered to players, which always remains you, how tough our game is. Both players suffered serious broken legs, one player, is a mature aged rookie, who has had a stellar season in his debut season, he is incontention for the Brownlow Medal and an All-Australian berth, while the other player broke his leg for the 2nd time in as many seasons and on the same leg. Their names are Michael Barlow from the Fremantle Dockers and Jack Ziebell from North Melbourne.

Ziebell is a young and coming player for the Kangaroos and will be a gun midfielder for them, however, he could be out for the rest of the season, although, he could be back for the finals, providing North Melbourne makes it and if he is fit enough in time, while Barlow is out for 2010 and possible for 2011, which is sad, considering where he has come from.

However, what irks me is, that a lot of people out there, only seem to care about Michael Barlow's injury. Even though, it is sad to see anybody suffer a serious injury, a lot only had sympathy for his injury more-so than Ziebell's injury, mainly because of their fantasy Football teams and Barlow having a better season than Ziebell. I have read comments like, "there goes my dream-team or Supercoach" and it just makes you wonder, where the human race is heading. I even saw one comment suggesting that the AFL should give the Brownlow Medal now to Barlow. Why for? Why should he get it ahead of others who is in contention like Dane Swan, Gary Ablett, Paul Chapman, Brendan Goddard and Luke Hodge? Some comments that I have read, doesn't make sense, both players suffered terrible injuries and both are equally important to their respective sides, so, my heart and well wishes go out to both players and not just the one and hope that both players come back better and stronger.
